How Much Does It Cost to Fax at a Store in 2026?
We collected current, per-page fax prices from major US retail and print locations. Below is what it actually costs to send a fax at The UPS Store, FedEx Office, Staples, Office Depot/OfficeMax, public libraries and AAA — with a source for every figure.
Prices vary by location. Most of these stores are independently owned franchises that set their own rates, so we present ranges rather than false precision. Where a price could not be reliably verified we mark it "varies / call ahead" instead of guessing. Always confirm with your specific store before you go.
Key Findings
What our 2026 price collection shows at a glance.
Typical range: ~$0.50 to $3.00 per page
For a domestic fax, in-store prices generally land between roughly $0.50 per page (a budget public library) and about $3.00 for a first page at The UPS Store. International pages run far higher — up to about $7.99.
Cheapest: libraries (and free options)
Public libraries are usually the lowest-cost option, averaging around $0.50 per page, and some branches fax free for cardholders. AAA members and some bank account holders can also fax certain documents for free — with strings attached.
Most expensive: international & UPS Store
International faxes are the priciest line item almost everywhere — commonly $3.49–$7.99 per page. For domestic faxes, The UPS Store sits at the top end at about $3.00 for the first page.
Pharmacies don't fax for you
Despite a common belief, CVS and Walgreens do not offer public fax service. Their machines are reserved for internal prescription and insurance use.
Multi-page faxes add up fast
Because each additional page is charged too (often $1.59–$2.19), a typical 5-page domestic fax at an office-supply or shipping store commonly costs roughly $8–$11 once you add travel and parking.
A phone app changes the per-page math
Sending from a phone-based service replaces per-page counter fees with a flat subscription, and removes the drive and the wait. For anyone who faxes more than occasionally, that can be cheaper per page than a store run — see the comparison below.

Notes: "Varies / call ahead" means a single reliable figure could not be verified for that cell. Pharmacy machines are not available to the public for outbound faxing. Many locations also charge ~$1.00 per page to receive an incoming fax on your behalf.
How Does a Phone-Based Fax Compare on Cost?
In-store faxing is priced per page, so the cost scales with every page and every trip. A phone-based service like FaxFlow works differently: it's a paid subscription that lets you send faxes from your phone without driving anywhere, printing, or paying a per-page counter fee for each transmission.
For an occasional one-page fax, a nearby library can be the cheapest option. But once you factor in additional-page charges, gas and parking — or if you fax more than once or twice a month — sending from your phone is often cheaper per page and far more convenient. FaxFlow is a paid app, not a free service; check current FaxFlow pricing to compare against the per-page rates above.
Methodology
- What we measured: the advertised per-page cost to send (not receive) a fax at major US retail, shipping, office-supply, library, membership and financial locations, split into first page, additional page, and international where available.
- How we collected it: prices were gathered in June 2026 from publicly available fax-service pages and pricing guides, with the source linked in the table for every figure. Where multiple sources agreed (for example, The UPS Store at $3.00 first / $2.00 additional), we used the agreed figure; where they differed by location, we show a range.
- Why ranges, not exact prices: The UPS Store, FedEx Office, Staples and Office Depot/OfficeMax locations are largely independently operated and set their own rates, and library and bank policies differ by branch. A single "national price" would be misleading.
- When we don't have a number: if a reliable figure could not be verified, the cell reads "varies / call ahead" rather than an invented value.
